デンマークのヘレ・トーニング＝シュミット首相歓迎の朝食会がパレスホテルにて開かれる。
出席者が１８０人近い、大きな朝食会。菅直人元首相、山口那津男公明党代表、米倉弘昌経団連会長をはじめ多くのご来賓にもご出席いただく。
首相がいらっしゃってからでは話ができないだろうと、８時半からビュッフェの朝食がスタート。９時にヘレ・トーニング＝シュミット首相が来場される。
首相の右隣が私、その隣に米倉会長。首相の左隣に菅元首相、その隣にダムスガード　デンマーク大使。
各テーブルに一人ずつ、議員連盟のメンバーが席につく。

しばらく雑談の後、首相がご挨拶され、次に、日本－デンマーク友好議員連盟を代表して私がご挨拶を申し上げる。
私の挨拶の後、出席している日本－デンマーク友好議員連盟の議員を一人ずつ壇上に招いて、最後に首相が加わり記念撮影。
全部で１７名の議連メンバーが出席。
９時４５分に首相が退席され、閉会。その後、デンマークのメディアのインタビューを受ける。
夜は首相公邸でのヘレ・トーニング＝シュミット首相歓迎の夕食会。首相公邸の大食堂にて。

総理大臣公邸において粗餐を差し上げたいと存じますのでご来臨くださいますよう御案内申し上げます。

余裕をもって６時２０分に公邸に到着。ラウンジと呼ばれる部屋で首脳会談と戦略的パートナーシップへの調印式が終わるのを待つ。
首脳会談がうまくいっているようで、夕食会のスタートがだいぶ遅れる。
夕食会はそれぞれ１２名ずつ。

安倍首相とトーニング＝シュミット首相が向かい合って座り、安倍首相の左隣に私、右隣に世耕官房副長官。
約一時間ちょっとの夕食会は常に和やかに会話が弾んだ。
途中、トーニング＝シュミット首相がデンマークの再生可能エネルギー比率に触れたときに、安倍首相が、この河野太郎さんは再生可能エネルギーに関してはラディカルといえる主張を持っていて、とおっしゃり、みんな爆笑。
再び議連でのデンマーク訪問を約束し、トーニング＝シュミット首相から安倍首相へのデンマーク訪問の要請があり、夕食会は終了。

Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen:
My name is Taro Kono.
I am Chairman of the Japan-Denmark Parliamentary Friendship League.
On behalf of the members of the Friendship League, I would like to wholeheartedly welcome Her Excellency Madam Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt to Japan.
I heard that Madam Prime Minister visited the Shibuya crossing to see the real life of the Japanese last night.
I hope Madam Prime Minister enjoyed the small trip in Tokyo, but your Ambassador took your Transport Minister to a rush hour train station and got her squashed last month. So beware where he might take you next.
Our bilateral relationship between Japan and Demark goes back to 1739, when a Danish named マーティン スパングベアcame off Sendai in a ship.
He did not land Japan but he surely did communicate with the Japanese.
Unless some Vikings had come to Japan before the Japanese arrived, this was the first contact with the land of the Rising Sun by the Danish people.
Then in 1864 Danish Admiral ビレ came to Uraga, seven years before the Commodore Perry’s famous visit.
Admiral ビレ wrote a book about his trip to Asia and this was the first Danish record about us.
In the same year, 1864, a famous samurai, Enomoto Takeaki came to Denmark to see the Second War of Schleswig and appeared in a Danish newspaper.
And finally in 1867 the Tokugawa Shogunate concluded a treaty with the Kingdom of Denmark, which was the 11th treaty by the Tokugawa Shogunate and their last.
Japan was literally connected to Denmark in 1872 when a Danish telegraph company connected undersea cable between Shanghai and Nagasaki.
Today a Japanese grows up playing with LEGO, reading stories by Hans Christian Andersen (ハンス・クレステャン・アナスン), eaing Danish pastry although it may have come from Vienna, then, eventually drinking Carlsberg.
